“Taking an acting class helps you open up in ways you never thought possible, and it’s my opinion, that everyone, at one time or another in life, should be required to take an acting class. Let’s face it, in business, sales, politics, and teaching, most people act at one time or another. Why not actually learn some short cuts to make it all easier?” – Improv
There is a theater in Philadelphia called Adrienne, InterACT Theater Company where Philly Improv courses are run. Founded by great Greg Maughan, Improve courses are now running all year around to anyone who aspires to be an actor or just having fun taking the courses. Across the street from Adrienne Theater there is Helium Comedy club where if you have the guts and some jokes, can do open MIC stand up comedy. You have 5 minutes to tell some jokes and if your material gets some major laughs, you can make some money as well.
We take ourselves too seriously sometimes. I for example, still cannot get out of my own skin to express myself effectively. I am too neutral and stiff. I need to loosen up a bit so that making silly faces to acting goofy would be comfortable. It is acting after all, isn’t it? This is what Improv acting class allows you to do. It will let you loosen up and allow you to express your emotions effectively.
